Dave Edwards – ★★★½
“On the whole, Code of Silence is arguably Chuck’s best flick due to Andrew Davis’ sturdy direction, a stacked supporting cast*, its great use of Chicago, and solid camera work from Frank Tidy**, a regular Davis collaborator.” -

“Code of Silence is an amazing back to back watch with Above the Law. Two Andrew Davis directed Chicago police action films about lone wolves and corruption, with largely the same cast. And they both have a killer David Michael Frank score.
Code of Silence is obviously the better of the two.

Serious plot about police corruption and Ralph Foody plays a nasty, evil man
I would watch this again tomorrow. Among my favorite Norris performances, and I love anything with Chuck.”

kiddelitter – ★★★
“CODE OF SILENCE was released alongside COMMANDO, RAMBO 2, and INVASION USA in 1985. Those films break down the door bringing new action movie conventions. Not just the muscle man bombast, but also the one-man-army, and overly simplified plot.
CODE OF SILENCE is the film in here that feels a bit as if it has one foot grounded in the Charles Bronson stoic cop film with unnecessarily complex plotting and themes while also having one foot in the go-it-alone, fun…” -
MrSunnyNihilist – ★★★★
“Chuck Norris made one attempt at mainstream action with Code Of Silence, a well-made and decently acted policer that finds Norris as a cop trying to protect a mobster’s daughter (Molly Hagan) from a rival family, meanwhile Norris is also a social pariah among his fellow cops due to wanting to get a past his prime, careless and corrupt cop (who killed an innocent kid) kicked off the force.” -
Lespoon – ★★½
Painfully dull for long stretches, there’s an interesting double meaning to ‘Code Of Silence’ here but everything is drawn in odd broad strokes littered with cliche. The action, saved almost entirely for the final 10 minutes, is functional and explosive but lacking in invention, even with the cheap knock-off lovechild of Johnny 5 and ED-209 that is literally wheeled out at the end.
Meta Description:
A gritty 1985 action thriller featuring Chuck Norris as a principled Chicago cop who defies departmental corruption to protect a mob boss’s daughter and bring criminals to justice amidst a citywide gang war.
