Reviews from Letterboxd:
-
Lou (rhymes with wow!) – ★★★
“An utter mess of a movie. Demoness from Thousand Years started out promising with a supernatural wuxia fight between good (Joey Wong) and evil (Meg Lam), but it quickly crumbled in on itself after that by becoming a sappy romantic comedy (cringe humour and Cantopop montages and all).” -
Alex Vlahov – ★★★★★
“I weirdly loved this, so glad to finally see it, very difficult to find, on 35mm at the New Beverly in a Hong Kong horror-fantasy double bill… such a bizarre pleasure. The ‘Our love will kill’ song is a bop (& prophetic!); favorite parts are all the urban night flying, including the alley slaying… Also the animated ruler of Hell looked suspiciously like Slimer.” -
kennelco – ★★★
“The opening looks as though it was shot on the sets of A Chinese Ghost Story. Joey Wong nabs the ‘Bead of Hell’ and flies into the future, landing in Hong Kong circa 1990. What follows is broad, braying comedy. Jacky Cheung is a star cop on the rise who meets up with the now more humanized fairy.”
