Reviews from Letterboxd

  1. Dawson Joyce★☆☆☆☆
“Derivative of movies like Big and Shallow Hal, this had potential to be a smart, funny comedy but instead becomes one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen in theaters. Amy Schumer’s character is portrayed as insecure at first but quickly becomes narcissistic and unpleasant, sending a harmful message that only physical beauty determines worth.”

  2. Noel Penaflor★★½☆☆
“Wildly uneven Amy Schumer starrer that you laugh enough to not stop watching but by the time you finish it you think of a myriad of ways it could have been better. Btw- my word of the day was “myriad”. It feels like there were three different movies shot and they took a homeless person off the Ventura underpass to edit it together. You feel it should have been better.”

  3. Allison M.★★★½☆
“I had more fun with I Feel Pretty than I feel like I had a right to. I had heard about the premise so I didn’t feel so resistant to the absurdity of it and just had a good time overall. I woke up the next morning laughing, thinking about Michelle Williams’ voice in this and how she should do more comedy.”

  4. helfy18★½☆☆☆
“I guess there is a decent message behind this movie of being confident in yourself and it making the difference, but unfortunately it just isn’t very funny. I am not an Amy Schumer fan, and this contains her typical brand of humor, although a bit less raunchy than usual. This is sort of a gender swapped version of Shallow Hal. It is odd, given how the sentiment about how out of touch that movie is, that they would attempt a similar them in 2018.”

  5. 1010★★☆☆☆
“1 hour and 50 minute version of that tweet that says “goodnight girls and gays remember that skinny is a feeling not a size””
