Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. FilmWhiz★★★★★
“This movie is f***ing awesome. The work of a visionary. Give it thirty years and people will be praising this ‘late masterpiece that wasn’t fully understood or appreciated in its time.'”

  2. Matthew Yglesias★★★★☆
“New Rome is prosperous, but decadent and stagnant. Cesar is acknowledged by all to be a genius, but also viewed as the likely murderer of his first wife and beyond that a villain for the greatest crime of all — displacing people from their homes for a real estate development project.”

  3. SuperBardiBros★★★★☆
“Megalopolis made me reflect on my relationship with my wife, my own source of inspiration and motivation. I thought of the debates with my idealistic younger cousins about utopia and why our society isn’t ready for it.”

  4. James (Schaffrillas)★★★☆☆
“Was dazzled and bewildered in equal measure by this. I’m not one of those squares who needs a coherent plot or a sensible magic system in order to get into a film like this; I was absolutely captivated by multiple sequences, in fact.”

  5. Andrew Carruth★★☆☆☆
“Megalopolis is laden with intention and argument, but it lacks direction, lacks synthesis, and fails to turn its theme into poetry.”
