   “TEMPTATION OF THE DEMON WOMAN is a head-spinning ride filled with twists and turns and rapid-fire editing. Scenes pummel you in succession, and while they don’t always make sense, the energy and excitement is always there. There’s fantastic make-up effects, glowing eyes, and heads that get replaced. People get drugged and get horny and pretty much everyone gets slapped around, including a child. It’s a slap-happy family affair and every minute is sweet. While a middle section does get bogged down, the last twenty minutes rip through your psyche.”

Even for me, a lover of gibbering insanity such as Wolf Devil Woman, Magic Curse and even the legendary Mystics in Bali, this freakish delight left me with scrambled brains and a severe case of the ‘what the fuck?!?!!’s. When the first frames burst onto the screen with one of the most outrageous Penanggalan attacks ever filmed, this gem immediately announced itself as a true landmark in the realm of colorful, South Asian fantasy horror.”

   “Bonkers Indonesian horror complete with flying papier-mâché heads, long nails, terrible dancing, and a crippled monk. This hits the ground running although the middle section gets a little bogged down (a gambling scene that seems like it will never end, a fistfight full of black magic pranking). But don’t worry, it brings things back around with a monk who fights evil and has a leg full of maggots for some reason and an abrupt religious moral lesson. I could have done without the mongoose cobra killing but so it goes.”
