Plot Synopsis:

Disch’s novella The Brave Little Toaster, billed as ‘a bedtime story for small appliances.’ Like its spiritual successor, Toaster is set in a world inhabited by sentient appliances made to serve their human creators.”

   “I finally rewatched this film after all these years through a recently rediscovered 35mm scan and I loved this all things considered. It does have some scenes that don’t further the plot much (like what was up with that whole animals in the forest/pond scene?) but what’s here is a lot more darker than I remembered. Like holy shit, rated G just got real. The soundtrack is great and full of some underrated bangers.”

Watching this as a kid was a bittersweet experience, but as an adult it’s really deep with the themes it touches upon, and the heartfelt scenes hit very close to home. In fact, I watched this movie the day before I moved downtown.”

   “This movie is far darker than I remembered. It’s no wonder I was so scared of it as a child. The grumpy vacuum cleaner, the terrifying air conditioner scene, and just the general dark undertones and themes really got to me as a kid, but the underlying journey and characters held my interest enough to see it through till the end and I’m glad I did. It definitely holds a special place in my heart.”
