“Hong Kong wizards do battle against each other in this very scary adaptation of Whoopi Goldberg’s Ghost. Four best Hong Kong friends go to a brothel one night but are attacked by an AIDS lady so they run into the woods and meet a magic user named Fen. Fen is about to do battle against a married couple of night sorcerers whose special move is to fornicate while flying through the air and straffing their foes with s&x spells. The four friends help defeat the naked enemies and then become best friends with Fen. But then they kill Fen’s sister on accident, and Fen turns into an Evil Asia man, and then it’s up to one of the girlfriends to trick an invisible Fen with a blow job and then kill him with a magic dagger. This movie is pretty great.” -

“Content that is just as depraved as Love to Kill but far more creative and wacky. It’s also not hypocritical like Love to Kill, since it doesn’t have the facade of a ‘message’ or ‘serious subject matter’. It’s exploitation, but that’s all it is. You know a movie’s strange when a man gets erectile dysfunction via voodoo doll and it’s not even close to being the weirdest thing in the movie.” -

“What happens in Thailand doesn’t stay in Thailand. This is a fun and at times pretty hilarious Cat III horror comedy, actually one of the better ones. It’s well directed and the story, what there is, makes sense (essentially a revenge occult tale). It’s got gore, nudity and some Asian (Buddhist and Taoist) lore. The ghost with flashing broken strip lighting sticking out of his bloody body was certainly new. As was the literal dick head.” -
Lou (rhymes with wow!) – ★★★★
“One of the more entertaining movies in the ‘Nimrods Get Into Supernatural Trouble After Misbehaving in Thailand’ genre that was popular in Hong Kong during the late ’80s to mid ’90s. The Eternal Evil of Asia still holds up for me on rewatch, mostly because this black magic flick really earns its Cat III rating. Not only does it contain plenty of violence and sleaze, it also has a higher than average amount of what-the-fuckery: Voodoo love hexes.. giant placenta traps.. a character nicknamed dickhead who turns into an actual dickhead.. s&x by astral projection.. this movie has it all. It’s also pretty funny.” -

“This throwback to the Hong Kong black magic movies of the 1970s and early 1980s unusually begins with a primer on what south-east Asian wizards and witches can do, presumably for the benefit of viewers used to more down-at-earth tales of serial r@pists and the like. With a healthy dose of s&x-obsessed comedy running through it, The Eternal Evil of Asia is about a hairdresser, May, whose boyfriend Bon has returned from a lads’ holiday in Thailand with a deadly curse on them.”
