Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Filipe Furtado – ★★★½
“Israel-set spy thriller which benefits from John Flynn’s usual matter-of-fact direction. The action involves plenty of fight for territory as people with different agendas try to push around an American student (Bruce Davison) on his connection to a young Palestinian. Youth idealism meets Cold War spy cynicism, and it is easy to guess who loses in a slow and tense walk toward doom. The strong cast (with the likes of Nicol Williamson and Donald Pleasence) helps as well.”

  2. Adam L – ★★★½
“Director John Flynn’s second film is a political thriller set in Israel that is somewhat difficult to see. The only readily available copy in circulation is a TV rip with Finnish subtitles. I liked The Jerusalem File, but it would be nice to see a decent copy at some point.”

  3. sipovic – ★½
“John Flynn’s second film, shot in Israel, clearly takes inspiration from The French Connection but focuses more on political intrigue. The cinematography is unexpectedly strong, but the script completely ruins it.” (Originally in Russian, translated to English.)
