Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Michael Shawn – ★★★★
“My first viewing of this was one of those awful public domain prints on DVD, so this time, on the new Blu-Ray in the Forgotten Giallo: Volume 3 set, was a MUCH improved experience. I got a lot more out of the killer atmosphere, for one, and also the groovy fashions.”

  2. Slig001 – ★★★
“A mix of Gothic euro horror, Giallo style and….Scooby Doo. And it would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for the slow pace and tedious plotting!”

  3. Philray – ★★★★
“The characterizations work really well, as does all the interpersonal stuff, which this film spends a fair amount of time on. But I wouldn’t say this is a slow burn, as there are plenty of creepy images and spooky moments throughout. The third act goes full haunted house with some genuinely well choreographed scares and clever mystery elements. Great ending!”

  4. DeadHeatCult – ★★★
“Went in thinking I’d love it, was a little disappointed in the first half, but it really came around and pulled me in halfway through. Loved the sets, loved the fog, score was a little odd and Scooby-Doo-ish like others have mentioned. Some great scenes overall, will return for a second viewing soon.”

  5. 13beersl8r – ★★★★
“A fog shrouded cemetery and an old gothic manor. Strangers lost on the road amidst rumors of witchcraft and vampires. Is someone going crazy or is it just some sort of Spanish Castle Magic? Simmering atmosphere that makes great use of the less is more concept. Enjoyed the story, the performances, and all the detailed and dusty set pieces. Just enough misdirection to keep the big reveal interesting.”

Meta Description: A 1972 Spanish-Italian horror film where fog-bound strangers find shelter in a mysterious mansion near a cemetery, only to encounter eerie and possibly supernatural events.
