sp00kylukey – ★★★★★
“The Seventh Curse is top-notch action/adventure/fantasy/horror hybrid insanity. Braindead meets Indiana Jones with kung-fu. Bustling with an unholy host of glowing-eyed skeleton to winged demon transformations, goo-spewing beasties, exploding tumors, ancient artifact hunting, child-devouring witchcraft worm monsters and boasting a final fight that feels like a grown-up Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers beat down.”
infinityinc – ★★★½
“With clear influences from then-contemporary Hollywood films, this martial-arts/horror/adventure is an F/X-on-a-budget, stuntmen-getting-hit-by-cars-for-real extravaganza about a Chinese doctor who incurs a black-magic curse while saving a girl from a ritual sacrifice in Thailand.”
omahajon – ★★★★½
“One of the ultimate kitchen sink films in the glory days of Hong Kong cinema. Features some of the wildest sequences this side of Encounter of the Spooky Kind, but has one added caveat that Hong Kong film expert Frank Djeng exclaims in his audio commentary from the Vinegar Syndrome release, ‘even features what every Hong Kong film needs: Chow Yun-fat with a bazooka!'”
sonnygoggles – ★★★★
“Insane pacing, outrageous creatures, and effects that look like they were crafted with a mix of Karo syrup and nightmares. This is pure 80s Hong Kong madness in its most entertaining form.”
MonstrosityJones – ★★★★
“Doesn’t make a lick of sense and it doesn’t matter. Feels like watching three genre films fighting each other to the death while Maggie Cheung tries to keep things grounded. A cult gem for fans of cinematic chaos.”
