Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. sarastro7 – ★★★★★
“It’s a great shame that Dolls of the Shogun’s Harem is not more widely known. It’s brilliant. It may be categorized as a ‘pink’ (Japanese: eiga) movie, but it is actually impeccably tasteful. All the core love scenes are tender and beautiful (except for the opening scene), and serve to underscore the movie’s most important feature: Realism.”
  2. blind Io – ★★★★½
“In a quest to go find the missing woman who might bear the child of the shogun, Genshiro must go out and try out different women to see if they carry the child, and if so kill her. A samurai pink movie, extremely beautiful, fun and one of my more surprising movie experiences.”
