Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Anthony – ★★★½
“A baby-faced Barbara stirs up drama at the racetrack. Ms. Stanwyck is really growing on me…!”

  2. melkasey – ★★★★
“I really enjoyed this. Shelby was an interesting character & progressive even for today honestly. And I loved seeing the journey her and Johnny went on.”

  3. Justin Bobby – ★★★½
“Picked up in the final act… and when Barbara pops off at the end I need a colorized version to see the red coat.”

  4. Andrew McLain – ★★½
“Yet another example of how Barbara Stanwyck can make an ok movie watchable. Not a bad skewering of the wealthy elite of the 30s—not much different from today.”

  5. Reely Old Movies – ★★★½
“I liked the film, I had a good time with it, though it did feel a bit rushed. The last 20 minutes are when everything starts to happen, and it wraps up pretty abruptly. Pretty good film, Stanwyck delivers as always.”
