Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. asta – ★★½
“This movie was worth it just for the early 1930s Tallulah Bankhead aesthetic.”

  2. c – ★★★
“Nooo don’t jump to your death, you’re so sexy haha.”

  3. mattheweg – ★★★
“I would not die for Paul Lukas, but I would die for Tallulah Bankhead.”

  4. Nicole – ★★★
“Pre-code soap opera. Tallulah Bankhead is worth a watch for it.”

  5. PUNQ – ★★½
“Tallulah Bankhead is married to Charles Bickford but is tired of the relationship and has a love affair with Paul Lukas, who just can’t seem to stand up to Bickford. The romance is taken from a novel by Thomas Rourke and is actually well written and executed for this Paramount film. The acting is rock solid overall, while the production side of things is a bit ordinary, even if we do get a nice jungle atmosphere. As it’s a romance dilemma, there isn’t really much else going on besides some limited comedy from James Finlayson & Eugene Pallette. The emotions come across well enough without ever feeling like a spectacular drama.”
