Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Chris Underwood – ★★★
“Obscure Italian thriller with a ’68 protest background and a stunning Morricone score. Someone dies in an awkward situation, and years later, when all but one of those present have become very well off, the other possibly begins sending blackmail notes. Pretty confusing and not helped by the fact that the subtitles on my print were on and off the screen in a blink of an eye and there was a lot of chatter too. Great conclusion at the beach with wonderful blow-up plastic chairs. Meanwhile, we visit a dull and dank-looking Milan, but all is enlivened by that music featuring the voice of Edda Dell’Orso and I Cantori Moderni di Alessandro Alessandroni. An unusual film with an amazing and unique soundtrack from the master.”

  2. MrPerkins – ★★★½
“This has long been one of my favorite Morricone soundtracks, but I’d never seen it because it wasn’t widely available on video. I finally took the plunge on an Italian VHS rip with no subtitles, and it does not disappoint. What I thought would be a slight softcore movie is actually a class struggle psychological thriller. The majority of the film is deathly quiet, with Ennio’s disarming score wafting in only during moments of tension. I really hope this one gets remastered soon.”

  3. TheCapn – ★★½
“Great premise, lackluster execution. I’ll give the movie a slight pass because the version I saw looked like utter garbage and the subtitles were a bit wonky, but I don’t think either doomed it. If the three main characters were, you know, characters and not just stand-ins for the upper class, the satire would bite harder. Give them at least one defining characteristic. If they’re just ‘bored rich assholes,’ then really go for it—make them practically inhuman. Or make them exaggerated morons. Something. Still, some nice visuals and a wonderfully cheeky Morricone score, full of mocking chants as the rich play their games.”
