Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. sakana1 – ★★★½
“Though the themes of Joe Sarno’s Young Playthings — a previously s&xually conservative woman becoming more adventurous; a woman leading others in collective s&xual awakening — are familiar from the director’s work, its way of engaging with them is new, to such a degree that reality is left behind for long stretches of the movie.”

  2. Gentry – ★★★★
“To the small group of hardcore Sarnophiles, Young Playthings is often whispered about as the crowning achievement of his Swedish sojourn, many even calling it one of his greatest works, period. I find the high praise fascinating because as far as I can tell, the film is only available through a fairly ragged print that jumps between clear SD and grainy VHS dupe quality, not to mention the worst offender, which is the almost inaudible, tin-can sounding audio.”

  3. Bloodspiller – ★★★½
“I could watch Joseph Sarno direct the phonebook. He has a nice touch, bringing a more meditative and ethereal quality to his erotic films.”
