Todd Gaines – ★★★
“I would advise you check out Amir Shervan’s Samurai Cop before viewing Young Rebels. Why? Young Rebels makes zero sense, but it will remind you of Samurai Cop due to the familiar faces, music, and hot bodies. Plus, my hope is it brings a smile to your face. Robert Z’Dar plays one of the main baddies, and his chin is on full display. The way he practices s&xual foreplay is downright hilarious, and the look on his face as he’s receiving a striptease makes me cry because he’s no longer with us. By far, Mr. Z’Dar is the best actor in the movie.” -

“From the magical ’80s synths and blistering guitars over the intro credits, you just know you are in for another deep-fried freight train of action cheese from Amir Shervan. Buckle up your brain ’cause it’s about to embark on a bumpy ride of bonkers cinema! While not as incoherently inept and entertaining as Shervan’s Samurai Cop, there’s still a good amount of head-scratching weirdery and over-the-top shenanigans to be had. No one can deliver that clumsy, out-of-sync, deranged dialogue, hyper-testosterone campiness quite like Shervan, dang!” -
Jeremy Milks – ★★★★
“Every time you watch an Amir Shervan movie, you can’t help but compare it to his masterpiece final film, 1991’s Samurai Cop. Yet that tasteful classic of cinema didn’t appear out of thin air, my friends. Young Rebels may be that most important step on the way to Samurai Cop. This one has it all—thongs, helicopters, seduction of the innocent, a shirtless Robert Z’Dar drinking red wine, a smokin’ hot synth soundtrack, and more action than Tango & Cash could ever dream of.”
