Reviews from Letterboxd:
- El_Sobrante – ★★★☆☆
“Even though I don’t particularly have the acquired taste to enjoy these slow sleazy love triangle erotic dramas, it has to be said that Masahiko Tsugawa had the ‘midlife crisis love-greedy womanizer’ roles down to a T.” - orinow – ★★★½☆
“A troubled architect weaves his way through numerous romantic situations in a search for true love and contentment. The film captures the complexities of love and desire with a subtle touch.” - Young Lee – ★★★☆☆
“Rewatching it with subtitles, the conflict between the ethical justification of marriage and the unrestrained nature of desire is well-explored. A line that stood out to me was: ‘Don’t you think a piece of paper is too simple for a couple who has been together for ten years?’ Kumiko Akiyoshi’s performance was bold, and the bathroom scene had a sculptural beauty. However, the ending scene with the daughter felt a bit over the top.”
