  1. Jack Often – ★★★★★

“A wild trip down a road full of wild twists of logic that lead through glowing supernatural vistas, magical terrorist attacks, flying eyeball creatures, and wild clashes with demonic entities and manifestations of all sorts.”

Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. HorrorSage – ★★★★☆
“I have no idea what is going on here, a cursed family is being attacked by a horny frog slug due to some ancient curse. There is a bunch of nudity, a bunch of frog monsters sliming people, a little kung fu fighting, a lot of screaming, and a woman trying to murder someone with scissors. I don’t know, this thing was a chaotic mess. But it was a fun chaotic mess.”

  2. Lou (rhymes with wow!) – ★★★½☆
“Out of the many ‘tied up woman gets devoured by slimy killer frogs’ movies I have seen, this is definitely the most outrageous one!”

  3. Gregor Kreyca – ★★★☆☆
“Kuei Chih-Hung is back with another over-the-top Shaw Brothers Horror flick, this time featuring a giant rapey frog/slug monster. Nice! The quality of my copy was not the best, which probably prevented me from enjoying this even more than I did. I hope this one gets a full restoration one day. There are plenty of gross-out moments, wild sex scenes, and hand-made special effects that I would love to see in HD.”

The Lady Professional (1971)

Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. BrianDanaCamp – ★★★☆☆
“LADY PROFESSIONAL – Lily Ho in a black leather trenchcoat. THE LADY PROFESSIONAL (1971) is a Shaw Bros. crime drama starring Lily Ho as an assassin in contemporary Hong Kong. It opens as she performs a hit on a lowlife while riding a roller coaster at an amusement park. Her weapon is a compact/powder puff that shoots lethal darts.”

  2. Mighty Peking Man – ★★★☆☆
“If you can get past the bad ‘first impression,’ you’ll be quite pleased with what’s to come: a tight, witty, entertaining flick filled with psychedelic color, ultra-violence, and vivid villains; one of them, a very young, bald Bolo Yeung. The film sports wit, creativity, and no matter what, we can’t take our eyes off the gorgeous Lily Ho, who plays the cunning lady assassin.”

  3. Rob Gowers – ★★★★☆
“In 1971, Art of Assassination would receive a Hong Kong remake courtesy of the Shaw Brothers, retitled as The Lady Professional with Lily Ho in the lead role – now named Ge Tianli. Despite being made in Hong Kong, The Lady Professional is undeniably a Japanese affair thanks to its co-director Akinori Matsuo (credited as Mai Chih Ho).”

Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Lorenzo – ★★☆☆☆
“It is sad to say that this is my least favourite film from Kuei Chih-hung and one of the worst Shaws that I have watched so far. A ‘sequel’ in name only to Hex, is actually more a sex comedy and gambling movie than anything to do with the horror genre.”

  2. Scrambled Face – ★½☆☆☆
“The tone may be more even here, but the story is a rudderless mess. It follows hapless gambling addict Cai Tou (James Yi Lui) as he gets in deep with local mob boss Shen Chan.”

  3. hotsake – ★½☆☆☆
“This movie was trash. The comedy sucked, the acting was worse, and the rest was just unfunny dull filler. Oh and the ending while ironic was unsatisfying.”
