belial_carboni – ★★★½
“A delightful 80s Japanese splatterfest. The little puppet creature is charming and disgusting in equal measure. A consistently zany piece of direct-to-video cheese.” -
Bleeding Skull – ★★★★
“Gakidama, aka Demon Within, is a delightfully stunning exercise in body horror. It’s lean, mean, and clocks in under an hour, but dazzles with gore, exploitation, and cannibalism.” -
c h r i s – ★★★½
“The Gakidama are like larval ghouls from Japanese folklore, realized in gooey and gory glory. Genuinely creative practical effects.” -
Luka – ★★★
“A proto-V-cinema folkloric splatter piece that delivers. The practical effects are excellent, and it has a gorgeous lo-fi 80s aesthetic.” -
Joey – ★★★
“Nothing will prepare you for some of the utter madness in this. The body horror here is utterly immaculate, and the demon design is equal parts creepy and cool.”
