Reviews from Letterboxd:

  1. Dave Jackson – ★★★½☆
“Junoon is one of the most entertaining Bollywood horror films I’ve seen. It takes its inspiration from American Werewolf in London with a healthy sprinkling of Cat People thrown in. In place of a werewolf, we instead get a weretiger! Though it has the long running time of a typical Bollywood film, it’s fairly fast-paced with some cheap but fun effects and a reasonable amount of death and destruction. I loved the tiger transformation sequences.”
  2. More_Badass – ★★★☆☆
“An Indian Weretiger In Bombay, with echoes of Cat People too just because. Junoon is more dark melodrama than horror, the were-bits largely in the second half and final half hour, but I was entertained the whole way through. It’s quite tonally siloed between horror and romance, but provides hefty amounts of both: cute (and ample) music numbers, a dark love triangle, practical transformations, and creature attacks that display its American Werewolf DNA proudly while also having nods to both Schrader’s and Tourneur’s Cat films. A more-than-decent occasionally-bloody Bollywood genre hybrid, awash in fog and Argento lighting.”
  3. Brad Henderson – ★★☆☆☆
“JUNOON is interesting but too much melodrama for a horror film. The transformations from man to tiger are pretty great but the first two acts of the movie are nothing like the 3rd. JUNOON sets up the story pretty well of a cursed tiger that passes the curse to the one that kills it. Once that story line has started – we get into a loooong relationship story between a doctor and her boyfriend. Song and dance ensue and we kinda forget about the curse.”
