Plot Synopsis:
Ethan witnesses the murder of his father by a group of thieves and is left for dead. He is rescued by Master T, a bizarre undertaker who trains him in an unorthodox form of kung fu that involves sparring with the undead. Meanwhile, an American ninja named Dragon is on a parallel mission, targeting the same villains. Their paths ultimately converge as they unite to take down the nefarious gang of criminals and ninjas once and for all.

   “Zombie vs. Ninja is one of the weirder Godfrey Ho ninja joints for a couple of reasons. It’s probably not surprising that the title is once again trying to sell this as something it’s not… There sort of are zombies in a few scenes, but they have weirdly little to do with the actual plot, even though they do appear in the ‘source movie’—a South Korean kung fu comedy.”

   “Ethan, with his strong back and Prince Valiant haircut, wants vengeance for the murder of his father, so when he stumbles across a coffin-maker called Master T who offers to train him, both as an undertaker and a kung fu master, he jumps at the opportunity. To build his skills in kung fu, his teacher gets Ethan to run around with rock-filled caskets and spar with the recently deceased, as one does.”

   “The absurdity of splicing together two different films reaches new heights here. Pierre Kirby is cool, but he’s barely in this. It’s mostly about zombie training sequences and revenge. Still fun in that bizarre, stitched-together Godfrey Ho way.”
