Plot Synopsis:
Dawn Wiener is an awkward and unpopular seventh-grader struggling to survive the humiliations of adolescence in suburban New Jersey. Constantly bullied by her classmates, overlooked by her parents, and overshadowed by her seemingly perfect younger sister, Dawn desperately searches for acceptance in a world that seems determined to reject her. When she develops a crush on an older boy and attracts the unwanted attention of a school bully, her already complicated life becomes increasingly uncomfortable. Blending biting dark humor with an unflinching portrayal of childhood cruelty, Welcome to the Dollhouse explores the loneliness, insecurity, and painful realities of growing up as an outsider.
