Plot Synopsis:
Drawing upon the Thai legend of the Krasue, Demonic Beauty follows Dao, a young woman whose life becomes intertwined with the spirit of a condemned princess. By day, Dao appears to live a normal life, but at night a supernatural transformation causes her head to separate from her body with her internal organs trailing beneath it. As the curse takes hold and fear spreads through the surrounding village, Dao struggles with her monstrous new existence, her relationships, and the tragic history behind the spirit haunting her.

   “When I was first learning about krasue/flying headed witch movies in my early 20’s, this was one of the first that came up in my research. I had a feeling it wouldn’t be great but I also knew I absolutely HAD to see it. It took some time to track it down, and then even longer to muster up the strength to watch it. Aesthetically it’s not much to look at. The CGI monster has it’s moments but the majority of the film revolves around the drama that becoming a krasue ghost has caused poor Dao.”

   “I love the universal human experience of a woman asking ‘Would you still love me if I was a flying human head with entrails hanging from its neck?’ and a man reassuring that of course he’d still love her if she was an evil Krasue spirit. (This is a thing that genuinely happens at one point in Demonic Beauty, slightly paraphrased)”
